Movie Love

Last night, while channel surfing with my daughter, we came across Tuck Everlasting.

I'm sure most of you are familiar with the story, but here is a quick recap - Girl meets boy, boy is immortal. There is a conflict and the boy has to leave town. Pledging his undying love, the boy tells the girl he will return for her.

Sweet, right?

Here's the thing, he does return, 85 years later.

Seriously?

I mean, I understand that to an immortal, 85 years is just a drop in the bucket. But really? If he truly loved her as he said he did, why on Earth could he not find any time to return sooner?

Did he really believe that she was just going to sit there for 85 years and wait? That he would return and there would be this joyous reunion?

Maybe I'm jaded cynical, but his return in the end just makes me want to shake him. What is it with men? Do they really think they are just so great that they can live their lives with no thought of how it affects the ones they say they love? Are they really so delusional to believe a woman is just going to sit around and wait for him to be ready?

I know that I can't lump all men into this delusional category, but I really can't help but wonder...

I never looked at it from that perspective before! I also thought he came back to allow her to live her life in the way it was meant to be lived. But thinking about it from that direction, he was an ass!

Men are totally delusional. I mean it. Just dumb about things like that.

Take my hubby for example. He thought it was perfectly fine to not finish a project that left my living room and dining room in a shambles for the last YEAR. Motorcycling, golfing and snowmobiling were all more important than the sanity of his wife.

I think men, as a general rule, are completely self-centered. I don't think they act that way to be selfish (although their actions make it seem that way), they just aren't geared towards thinking outside of themselves.

That's why they need women to connect the dots for them sometimes. Otherwise they simply just don't get it!!!

I've never seen this movie, so I have no clue about it, lol!

No, I think you're bang on the money with this one. Men are delusional. Way to call it Kristin!

Sadly, there are women that do sit around and wait on men. I see this a lot actually.

I have never seen the movie, but it sounds like I would be very frustrated if I had seen it! Such a good question... I have two little men of my own. I wonder if I can set them straight before they leave this house. Doubt it. BTW, it's been TOO long since I've been to your site. I love the new (to me) look!
