Entertaining is Overrated

I don't generally do a lot of entertaining in my home.  It is small, I have a pile of pets, and my kids are pigs with zero willingness to pick up after themselves.  It doesn't matter how often I go through and pick up after them, as soon as I leave the room, another mess appears.

Currently, my coffee table is serving as a home to coloring books, a sombrero, crayons, and empty glasses. Did I mention food and drink are not allowed in the living room?

I've tried desperately over the years to eliminate the extra junk that just piles up and takes up space. Sadly, new junk just springs up in it's place.

On Tuesday, I am opening my home up to ladies from work and hosting a jewelery party.  To do this successfully, I will have to corral the dogs in my bedroom, lock the cats in the downstairs bathroom, and sell my kids to gypsies.  I also need to locate a wardrobe with a hole leading to Narnia so I can shove all the extra junk through and not have to worry about it mysteriously reappearing in my living room.

Bwahahahaha! Wish me luck!

P.S. Stay tuned for some awesome stuff coming down the pike from CSN!

Yup come to home and you couldn't find the dinner table. We could not even eat at the table. :(

I completely understand. I gave up trying to be perfect when we have people over with no dust a long time ago. I figure nobody lives in a pristine world (excpet my parents.)

On the other hand, when we do have people over, the house usually ends up worse than before they came! People are slobs... or at least, the people we have over :-)

Jewelery? Did some say jewelery?! You aren't alone. No sooner than the mess is stowed away, it magically reappears. I sit down at night after Little Duck goes to bed and seriously contemplate picking up. I know that in the short time we are home together in the early morning that she will undo in a matter of moments what took me 15 minutes to tackle the night before. So I just leave it. Why fight it?! LOL Some days we make a mess just to make a mess. Being a kid is fun.

If you find that Narnia wardrobe....we'll have to work out a deal. I'll pay you rent for it...

I have stepped on the SAME fire truck 4 times today and I have picked it up and put it away just as many. Next time I have to grab my foot and mumble a slew of curse words, it goes in the trash!

have a great time hosting your party!! I shove everything into our coat closet and then forget about it. I have to clean it out every couple of months, but it beats finding places for it later!

We very rarely entertain but fortunately we carry enough OCD in our home to throw away or sell off any excess in our already undersized apartment. I'm sure that will change with time....and more kids.
We are attempting a Thanksgiving dinner with friends and family in our new place so that will be interesting for sure.
Good luck with your hosting!

Jewelry party??????? Now that is my kinda party!

You've seen my place. Mess after mess. That's why my room is my favorite place. NO MESS. If I clean it, it stays that way. If I don't clean it at least it's my mess.
