When I worked, I ate a lot of Subway sandwiches. It got me out of the office for 1/2 an hour and they have some great low fat low calorie selections. Also, there was a great market by my office that had a salad bar. Again got me out of the office and away from the fast food joints. Bringing your lunch for home (leftovers or soups) is always good choice, if you're trying to save $. Good luck and congratulations on the new job!

Congrats on the new job...how exciting!

I pack hubby's lunch the night before so that I don't have to worry about trying to rush in the morning to get it done. He tends to take leftovers or I stock up on fruits and veggies along with a sandwich and he is happy...

Hey! I try to have my lunch packed the night before. I also found these awesome thai spring rolls by lean cuisine that are fab and come out Crispy when microwaved!

Good luck with your new job!! My husband brings his lunch to work and he usually brings in leftovers from the night before's dinner.

I mostly brown bag it, with leftovers myself. My husband packs his own, usually a sandwich (pb&j). I pack my daughter's too and she's more demanding. She likes bean burritos, cheese sandwiches, peanut butter apple, peanut butter, nutella & banana...
I also keep a small stash of healthy snacks in my desk. Nuts, pretzels, chocolate in case of emergency.

I'm glad your first day went well.

When I was working I tried to pack a lunch. Usually leftovers. But I would also go to Subway. A lot.

Congratulations & Good luck at the new job!!

I mostly bring my lunch everyday, usually leftovers from the night before, a sandwich, a lean cuisine - just something quick & easy (but try to be healthy, too!). I can say that you should step out or away from your work area if only for 30 minutes - just to get refreshed for the rest of the day!

I just started this week to bring lunch b/c its too expensive. One day I have a salad made from home with some grilled chicken, today I have a Weight watcher meal & some frozen veggies I can warm up in the micro wave. Tomorrow probably a sandwich and Fridays I always buy lunch cause by the end of the week I'm done!

I think the key it to prepare it the night before! :)

Love the blog design makeover! I suggest Healthy Choice Fresh Mixers. They are near the spaghetti o's I believe. Not frozen b/c by the time I get to eat, frozen stuff is well, no longer frozen. They have lots of flavors and really easy to make.
Congrats on the new JOB!

I'm the queen of the sack lunch. Even when I stop working I will probably make my sandwich or leftovers every day for lunch. It saves so much money! You can even make the sando the night before as long as you toast it so it doesn't get soggy.

Congrats on the new job, that's awesome!

Back when I worked outside of the home, I stocked up on yogurt, sandwich stuff, and fruit for my lunches.

This is my first time with Post-it Note Tuesday but it looks like fun. New follower! :)

Congrats on the new job! When I worked outside the home, I had a mini kitchen where I could prepare all my meals and snacks in my office so I was lucky. I did work 12 hr shifts, nights too so it was a requirment. Glad to be done with that. :) A couple of great lunch ideas are trailmix(super healthy, boosts your energy and easy to pack), crystal-lite singles (easy to pack and just add to a glass of water), fiber bars are great(just have to watch the ingredients because some have a lot of sugar and caffeine (if it's full of chocolate). A great healthy sandwich option is a chicken ceasar pita, just use light dressing. Oh and another good one, if you like Tuna are the seasoned Tuna and spread on wheat thins OR Tune & veggies in a can...both of these are quick, healthy and in the canned meat/fish isle. Lots of options like yogurts and fruit as mentioned...I love my food, can you tell? LOL

Here's another "pack it the night before" and "leftovers" kind of girl. Often I will put leftover in my lunch containers as I am cleaning up the kitchen after dinner. And the same for my daughter, since she eats gluten-free and doesn't eat the school lunches. Having everything ready the night before is key to getting us out the door by 6:10 a.m. every day--and allows me a few extra minutes of sleep. The individually packaged snack/lunch items tend to be pricey. I make my own trail mix, granola bars, yogurt "parfaits" as well as my own "100 calorie" packs from the regular sized bags/boxes. Invest in some good reusable containers so you aren't always buying more plastic baggies. (And better for the environment too...)

I used to pack lunch all the time. There are so many healthy ways to do it. I can email you some old skooll ideas if you want me to! ;)
