What Ever Happened To...

I was listening to the Adult Alternative music station on DirectTv while reading blogs doing laundry on Monday evening when a song came on that I liked.  I had never heard it before and looked up at the screen to see who the artist was.  The box floating around my TV screen told me I was listening to Jem.  I immediately thought this:

When in reality, I was actually listening to a different Jem -

While appearing to be far less glamourous, the music better fit my tastes than the Jem of my past.  It did get me to thinking though, what ever happened to Jem and the Holograms?   The last we saw of our benevolent rock stars, they had found the long lost father of one of the foster girls living with them in the Starlight Mansion.

Did Jerrica finally raise enough money and sign other bands to Starlight records to give up the Jem guise?  Did they successfully keep Synergy a secret?  Did they find different and better uses for Synergy?  I would imagine that Jerrica's father had far more significant things in mind when creating the super computer.  Did Jem own the only pair of special earring that hid her identity?

Clearly with only three seasons under their belts, the fine people of Hasbro and Marvel left many questions unanswered, and honestly, the children of the 80's deserve to know.  They've created many-a-movie to pander to the inner child of the men of my generation, however, we ladies must sit and wonder...

Are there any blasts from the past that make it onto your radar from time to time?  What is your favorite childhood pop culture memory?  While Jem isn't necessarily my favorite, it certainly has gotten my mind wandering...  I wouldn't expect that you've heard the last from me on this topic. Hahaha...

Geez, I feel old just thinking back on this. The GoGo's? or how about The Police?
